My comment to REI

This is my email to REI...

If you are supporting the radical anti-capitalist Wall Street protestors with camping materials, you will lose a great deal of business.  This self proclaimed '99%' is more like 9% of the US population.  Most Americans do not support this movement.  Your company is successful because of a free market economy- this group is looking to destroy that very system.  If you intend to provide such items to these radicals, I will do whatever I can to bring your support to the attention of friends and family, and ask them to do the same.    I think you'll find most Americans want no part of this revolution.  Please reconsider your support of these grossly uninformed useful idiots.  Thank you.

This is their response... (thank you REI)

Good Day Stacy,

Thank you for contacting REI and for giving us the opportunity to provide accurate information regarding the co-op's giving efforts. We have not directly supported the Occupy protests.  In fact, REI supports nonprofits dedicated to conserving outdoor places and promoting volunteerism.  We do not accept unsolicited requests for donations.

A story in the Washington Examiner (link: http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/dc-occupiers-convene-plot-stay-winter) posted erroneous information on Tuesday, October 25 that REI supported the Occupy protests. REI Public Affairs spoke several times with the reporter to indicate no REI store has supported the Occupy protests in Washington DC or other cities across the country.  She posted a new and accurate story yesterday afternoon (link: http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/patagonia-rei-deny-helping-occupiers)

Again, thanks for the opportunity to connect directly. We welcome you to forward this email to your friends and personal network.
